Oh my goodness, he is a miracle worker! I was not sure if this project to salvage many years of family pictures from a corrupted computer was going to be possible. I talked to Philip and explained the situation and sent him the corrupted hard drive. He worked so hard and had to try so many different things to salvage the files. But he kept me updated all along the way which kept my confidence up. He was not willing to give up, he kept working at it until he was successful. I just can’t express how thrilled I was that he was successful! He was so thoughtful and so caring because he knew how important this project was to me. I would definitely hire him again if I had a similar need and I definitely recommend him to anybody who is struggling to try to recover files from any kind of computer system. So now I have all of these pictures that I thought were gone forever. I am so happy!

I snapped my flash drive in half. Phil was able to fix my drive and retrieve my data. I provided another flash drive and he copied everything over. The cost was very fair and no hidden fees like many other companies. He was very professional and easy to talk with on the phone. He kept constant communication throughout the process. Working with Phil was a positive experience from start to finish, and we intend to recommend him to anyone we hear from who has supposedly lost all the data on their hard drive. Initial drop-off, with follow-up call within less than an hour that Phil could retrieve our data (phew), and pick-up just 24-hours later! Mr Shaw is very professional and I would definitely recommend him, he could not fix my problem as it was very complex mini SD recovery but he took the time to look in to it for me and explained the issue and what had to be done then referred to someone who could do the recovery. Highly recommend!

Took my computer to a local repair shop and they missed coping a directory with thousands of pictures before reformatting the hard drive. Phil was able to recover all of the deleted files and less than half the cost of other services.

I traveled all the way from Shippensburg, PA to Shaw Computer Services in Ellicott City, MD. Phil Shaw has magic fingers. Within five minutes, he fixed an issue with my audio recorder, and I was able to recover all my recordings that were needed to do my full-time job. The magic continued... I went to McDonald's to celebrate after two days of frustration. I bought a chocolate milkshake, and the worker accidentally gave me two. GREAT DAY -- all because of Shaw Computer Services.

I highly recommend using Shaw Computer Services. My Lacie external hard drive from grad school mysteriously stopped working - but I wasn't sure my data was worth recovering. I brought it into Shaw Computer Services to see what could be done inexpensively, and Phil was able to completely fix the drive and put it in a new case for a fraction of what Lacie quoted online for data restoration. Despite needing to order parts, the service was fast - I dropped the drive off on Friday and it was ready by Tuesday. I am super grateful to have access to my files!

I went to Shaw Computer Services with a corrupted Linux drive with 2.2 TB of data that I could no longer access in full. Phil Shaw determined that one of the heads had failed but he was able to circumvent the issue and image the drive. Due to its size it was a tall task, but Phil was able to recover over 99.9% of the data on the drive. He was very professional and clearly explained what the issue was and how he would attempt to resolve it. His shop is located minutes from my office which made our interaction much easier than shipping the drive off to someone across the country. I highly recommend Shaw Computer Services for any data recovery needs.

I’m SO glad I found Phil Shaw! My home NAS unit went down, containing years of personal data. Phil was able to recover everything (over 300 GB!), even the folder structure that everything was saved in! I appreciated his careful approach, working with me to try and salvage the most important data first in case he wasn’t able to save everything. He expedited the work for me and the cost was incredibly reasonable, probably 1/4 to 1/3 of what it would have cost going to some of the large companies. I had an iMac hard drive fail (which was not backed up). After the Apple store replaced the drive, I took the old one to Phil. Within 24 hours, he had retrieved 100% of the data from the damaged drive and put it on an external drive. Fast, knowledgeable, and fair with pricing. Affordable, Amazing, and Awesome. Shaw Computing went above and beyond in this recovery, doing the impossible. Really, most h/d recoveries are pretty simple for a qualified technician. But my 2 drives smoked badly, burning numerous chips, including the ROM, and needed new heads. Mr. Shaw deserves 10 stars for his communication, his diligence, and performance. Thank you very much for my data! (BTW, one drive was a backup. Who knew *both* could die horribly at the same time!)

Terrific experience! I would recommend anyone with hardware issues to take their problems to Mr. Shaw. He will certainly do more to help you than any other businesses, in my experience. I had a 4TB WD My Passport that had stopped working after a relatively small fall on to a rug. The disk had extremely crucial data that was supposed to be used in a college final. The majority of that class's grade depended on that data. It happened on a weekend and after talking to WD, with no avail, the only options I had were to go to Geek Squad, who really couldn't help at all, or then pay a data recovery company heftily and wait a few weeks (which would mean an F in the class). Mr. Shaw took the disk on a Saturday evening, recovered all the data and fixed the disk! All in less than 16 hours! He is truly skilled at what he does and is an excellent professional. Moreover, a kind human being who took my case last minute, without any additional charges because I am a student, and saved a year of hard work. A five star rating is the least I can do to thank him.

I had a 2 TB portable drive crash before backing it up. There was a lot of important, sensitive data on it. I tried the electronic recovery softwares and nothing worked. Philip agreed to take a look and was able to recover the entire drive's contents in two days. His service and professionalism are outstanding, plus his pricing is extremely reasonable compared to other quotes I had received. Highly recommended.

When my external hard drive stopped working, I didn't know what to do. I called the manufacturer to see what they could do and that would require sending it all the way to Oklahoma and a hefty repair price! No way was I doing that. I googled for someone local other than Best Buy, etc. and found Shaw Computer Services and they were close by. I read all the reviews and called immediately. Mr. Shaw was great!! He said I could come that day and he would diagnose and let me know my options the following day. Thankfully my hard drive was not that damaged and he was able to recover all of my data and put it on a new external hard drive!! Can I say huge relief!!! He is reasonably priced and takes the time to explain everything to you. I HIGHLY recommend Shaw Computer Services!!!

This Guy is great, I had some issue with My Sd card. Mr. Shaw was able to recover my data. On April 4, 2019 I brought another Sd card that had some of my videos that had been deleted. Mr. Shaw was able to recover the videos. 10 videos to be precise but not the exact one I was looking for so he did not charge me. What a great Customer Service....... I will recommend him to anybody.

Shaw Computer Services saved the day! I highly recommend Phil at Shaw Computer. My son's external drive containing an entire quarter of engineering work crashed on the last day of the high school quarter. Phil recovered the information and uploaded it to cloud ON THE VERY SAME DAY! Quick, successful and reasonably priced. I drove 45 minutes for Shaw Computer and it was worth every penny. The larger data recovery companies take several days if not weeks and we didn't have that much time. We are still talking about how Phil saved the day in our house!

Found him through word of mouth. I sent him an email explaining what went wrong and he called me the next day with how he thought he would proceed. He was honest with the pricing and told me exactly what would make the price go up, so there were no hidden fees (and it was more than a third cheaper than geek squad told me. They were the first people I approached). He was personable and up front with how he would retrieve my data. I needed my data ASAP but I didn't tell him so as not to rush him, but he still had ALL of my data ready for me the very next day! He even suggested and followed through with screen sharing so I could see what he retrieved and if it was good enough for me before I went to pick it up.The best and most pleasant service I've had for a long while.

I first went to the Geek Squad at Best Buys and was told that they would have to send my external hard drive out and that it would take 2 to 4 months for me to get it back. In addition to this disappointing news, I was also told that it could cost up to $1500 for them to retrieve my data. Thank God I found Shaw Computer Services. Philip was unbelievably fast in recovering my thumb drive data. I called on a Monday morning, dropped off the thumb drive on Monday afternoon, and was back working with my files by early Tuesday afternoon. Very pleasant and professional, reasonably priced.
